In the wake of the ongoing sporting crisis at Borussia Dortmund, the role of Matthias Sammer has recently come into focus. Now those responsible at BVB are said to have approached their external consultant with a spicy request.

As the “SID” reports, Matthias Sammer, as an expert for “Prime Video”, will no longer accompany Borussia Dortmund matches in the future.

According to reports, sports director Lars Ricken suggested this to the 57-year-old after the recent discussions about Sammer’s dual role.

BVB did not want to officially comment on the revelation when asked by “SID” on Monday.

After the Champions League defeat at FC Bologna (1:2) last week, Sammer criticized the team unusually harshly in front of the cameras.

The 1996 European champions rumbled that the team was in a “physical and mental condition” and was neither capable of defense nor offense, triggering a huge response.

The following night, coach Nuri Sahin was informed of his dismissal, U19 coach Mike Tullberg took over as an interim solution and will also be on the bench against Shakhtar Donetsk at least on Wednesday (9:00 p.m./DAZN).

Bad air at BVB? Watzke contradicts rumors

Recently there had been explosive speculation that BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke might be consciously distancing himself from Sammer. On Saturday in the 2-2 draw against Werder Bremen, the managing director was missing from his place in the VIP stand.

However, Watzke refuted the speculation via “Bild”. “I just didn’t feel like producing 90 minutes of breaking news again just because I was tearing my hair out. We’re not in the zoo!” said the 65-year-old.

Watzke made it clear that instead of sitting next to Sammer and his three management colleagues, he and his companions watched the game from their usual seats in the east stand. Against Donetsk he will “sit in my usual seat again”.
