8:46 p.m
Hamburg comes into the game a little better and tries to get closer to the hosts’ goal. This doesn’t work yet, but the Herthaners are no longer as oppressively superior as they were in the first ten minutes.

8:44 p.m
Niederlechner reacts to the Hamburgers’ tough approach and makes a physical statement against Richter. HSV receives a free kick in midfield, but cannot create a chance afterwards.

8:43 p.m
HSV doesn’t get into the duels at all – and especially not in a fair way! Meffert pulls Maza’s jersey and brings him down 30 meters from the goal. Actually, that would have required another warning.

Yellow card for Dennis Hadžikadunić (Hamburger SV)
HSV is having a pretty desolate initial phase. Dennis Hadžikadunić puts the ball way too far forward on the right side and then rushes into Michał Karbownik with his legs coming from the front. He rightly received the second yellow card of the game.

The Berliners are staying on the trigger! Once again it is Maza who starts the scene with a clever pass to Scherhant. He puts the ball back to Palkó Dárdai, who can once again finish from a dangerous position. However, the youngster spends a little too long on the ball, which is why his shot is blocked by Hadžikadunić.

8:38 p.m
Palkó Dárdai has it 1-0! Hamburg combines beautifully on the left side, which is why Maza can move to the baseline on the left side of the penalty area. The youngster plays a perfect pass in the middle to Palkó Dárdai, who should actually just push in from seven meters, but actually misses the goal quite clearly with his low shot.

8:36 p.m
The initial phase goes relatively clearly to the hosts, who are literally whipped across the pitch by their fans. HSV often comes too late into duels and has to chase a lot.
5.
8:35 p.m
HSV becomes quite dangerous with the first standard of the game. Cuisance hits the ball from the left-hand position into the penalty area, where Palkó Dárdai hits the ball with his head, but can no longer really place his head on the goal. The ball flies past the housing.

Yellow card for Emir Sahiti (Hamburger SV)
Derry Scherhant dupes Emir Sahiti on the left, who stretches out his leg and takes his opponent off his feet.

8:32 p.m
Mickaël Cuisance makes his first mark by jumping into the back of his opponent in a rather rustic midfield duel. A healthy level of hardness is to be expected today anyway.

Game start
8:30 p.m
The atmosphere in the Olympic Stadium is great in keeping with the big game. The Berliners of course know what the hour has come. The game against HSV could be absolutely groundbreaking for the rest of the season. It will start in just a few moments.
8:19 p.m
HSV will probably play in a 4-1-4-1 system, especially since Merlin Polzin has no reasons to change the successful system. A very important factor is of course Davie Selke in attack, who makes excellent compensation for the loss of Robert Glatzel, who is still injured. Otherwise, HSV lives a lot from its left side, where Miro Muheim and Jean-Luc Dompé can make a lot of difference, especially offensively. Sixth Jonas Meffert is particularly responsible for stability in the team.
8:06 p.m
Hertha is expected to play in a 4-2-3-1 system as usual. The main focus is of course on number 10 Ibrahim Maza. It’s not for nothing that the top talent is courted by numerous clubs. But midfielder Mickaël Cuisance is also having a strong season and could play a key role today. Veteran Florian Niederlechner will be responsible for the goals today, but he hasn’t scored since the end of November. The lack of a consistent shooter is one of Berlin’s main problems, even if the defense around Toni Leister and Márton Dárdai usually does a good job.
19:51
Of course, HSV must have enjoyed taking the lead in the table last weekend. However, the density at the top of the 2nd league is currently so high that this could really only be seen as a snapshot. Nevertheless, it can be seen that Merlin Polzin is simply good for the people of Hamburg. It is thanks to the young coach that HSV has been unbeaten in six league games and was able to take twelve points. After an outstanding 5-0 against Fürth shortly before Christmas, the Hanseatic League started the new year excellently with an important 1-0 against Cologne.
19:41
Hertha is having a sobering season and is stuck in twelfth place in the table after seven wins, four draws and seven defeats. After a measly point from three games before the winter break, the first match in 2025 was at least won. There was an important 2-1 win in Paderborn that kept their promotion hopes alive. The current second division season is so crazy that even the twelfth place in the table still has a chance. Before the match day, Hertha was only six points behind league leaders Hamburg. With a win today we could get within three points of HSV.
7:38 p.m
Hello and welcome to the top game in the 2nd Bundesliga. This Saturday evening, Hertha BSC welcomes Hamburger SV. The game in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium starts at 8:30 p.m.
