TO COMPLETE UNKNOWN
Type: biographical ✦✦ 1/2
Direction: James Mangold. With Timothée Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Monica Barbaro, Boyd Holbrook
From the Greenwich Village folk scene to international fame, a portrait of the artist as a young man (1961-65) full of historical falsehoods, exaggerations, omissions. But what does it matter?
The author of the biography of Johnny Cash (When love burns the soul2005), drawing inspiration from The day Bob Dylan picked up the electric guitar by Elijah Wald, creates the perfect initiatory path: the meeting with mentor Pete Seeger and, through him, with the legend Woody Guthrie; the love of women (Sylvie-Elle Fanning, character inspired by Suze Rotolo) and of course Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro, incredible voice). He will betray everyone.

Chalamet impeccable choice. But already halfway through the film you want to see it again Don’t Look BackDA Pennebaker’s documentary about the 1965 English tour.
