On the final day (January 27) Hans Peeper, who was imprisoned in the camp and survived Bergen-Belsen, reads the last names around 2.30 pm. It Read names can be attended for free for interested parties for free.
According to Bertien MINCO, director of Kamp Westerbork Remembrance Center, the involvement of the younger generation is essential: “It is now time to transfer this assignment to the new generation. That is why I am happy that many survivors, relatives and mayors read together with young people, and that schools participate en masse. Passing on these stories is more important than ever. Because as long as a name is mentioned, the memory remains. “
