Concerns about Alphonso Davies: FC Bayern’s left-back has to be replaced injured in the Champions League game in Rotterdam. This has direct consequences.

Injury concerns at FC Bayern: The record champions had to cope with a bitter setback in the away game in the Champions League at Feyenoord Rotterdam. Shortly before half-time, Alphonso Davies suddenly found himself sitting on the pitch in stoppage time in the first half, holding his left thigh.

Several teammates and support staff immediately rushed to the Canadian on the pitch. However, after a short break in treatment, the left-back was unable to continue. Accompanied by two supervisors, he hobbled off the pitch. It is not yet known exactly what injury Davies suffered. However, a possible muscle injury cannot be ruled out. Given the many games these weeks, a loss for the Canadian would be particularly painful. When asked about this, coach Vincent Kompany said on DAZN: “I haven’t spoken to the medical department yet.” But he didn’t want to rule out a torn muscle fiber. “That could be the case,” Kompany said.

But things got even worse for Bayern. Raphaël Guerreiro, who came on for Davies, got off to a very bad start. After a counterattack by the Dutch, the Portuguese introduced himself with a completely unnecessary and impetuous foul in the penalty area and thus caused the penalty to make it 0-2. His opponent was actually already on his way to the touchline and there was no longer any acute danger to the Bayern goal. Before he left the penalty area, Guerreiro caught him with his left foot and brought him down.

Santiago Gimenez converted the penalty in the eighth minute of stoppage time to make it 2-0. The striker scored 1-0 for the hosts after a long ball to him in the 21st minute of the game.
