After a fall while training for the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill run in Kitzbühel, German skier Jacob Schramm was transported away by helicopter on Wednesday (January 25, 2025).
Schramm lost control during the second downhill training on the infamous Streif in Kitzbühel and crashed into the safety net. The 26-year-old from Upper Franconia was flown by rescue helicopter to the hospital in nearby St. Johann. According to the German Ski Association (DSV), he will be transferred from there to the accident clinic in Murnau. According to DSV, Schramm suffered a concussion and a complex knee injury. Further investigations are to follow.
Schramm, who started in the World Cup for the first time in Kitzbühel last January (50th) and has since competed in four more races, fell after a minute of riding in a section after the Seidlalm jump. He fell behind and flew almost unchecked into the nearby safety net. In the first training run he finished 42nd.
The Austrian tore his cruciate ligament on Tuesday
The rescue helicopter had already had to take off the day before. The Austrian young rider Felix Hacker, currently leader in the European Downhill Cup, had to cut short his ride because he tore a cruciate ligament in a hit.
