January 19 – 9.33pm – MILAN

On the sixth return day of the Serie A1 women’s volleyball championship, Smi Roma Volley clearly beat Cuneo (3-1), while Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 came from behind to beat Cda Volley Talmassons 3-1. Successes also for Busto, Novara and Vallefoglia.

Roma- Cuneo 3-1 (22-25,25-18,25-23,25-14)

At the PalaTiziano Smi Roma Volley clearly defeats Cuneo and continues to hope for salvation. Cuccarini’s girls, beyond the first set, held the ball in their hands and gave the cats no chance in the fourth and decisive fraction, which they won by a wide margin. For the Wolves, a victory that comes after four consecutive defeats and which gives oxygen after a difficult period. Cuneo, after the important victory against Novara in the weekly match, takes a step back from the point of view of the game and the standings. By virtue of the defeat of Talmassons, Rome is now at 13, only one point away from the cats and Perugia.

Rome: Orvosova 18 points, team blocks 14 (7 Rucli), team aces 2.

Wedge: Bjelica 15 points, team blocks 8, team aces 6 (3 Bjelica).

Chieri – Talmassons 3-1 (23-25,25-23,25-23,29-27)

Good match at the Palefenera in Chieri, where the two sextets battled with no holds barred. The hosts emerged victorious, but Talmasson cannot be said to have tried everything to get the match back on track, leading the Piedmontese team to the advantage of the fourth set. The offensive contribution of Anthouli (20 points), Skinner and Buijs (both 17 points) was excellent and the blocking phase was excellent, yielding 19 points (6 Alberti). For Talmassons, the usual Storck (19) and Botezat (17) did well and, together with Strantzali, were the offensive players who caused the Piedmontese team the most concern. In the rankings, Chieri reaches 35, while the CDA remains in last place at 10.

Chieri: Anthouli 20 points, team blocks 19 (6 Alberti), team aces 5.

Talmasons: Storck 19 points, team blocks 10, team aces 4 (3 Strantzali).

PINEROLO-BUST 1-3 (19-25, 25-22, 17-25, 20-25)

External shot Busto takes full advantage on the Pinerolo pitch and digs a perhaps decisive furrow in the playoffs from the Piedmontese, ninth. The butterflies, after two knockouts, respond with a solid performance, thanks to effective serving and good distribution that sends five players into double figures for points. For Wash4green, an afternoon of passion in reception and attack, but also from the wall-defense Marchiaro’s girls collect little.

Pinerolo: Smarzek 22 points, Muri team 4, Ace team 2.

Bust: Obossa 18 points, Muri team 10 (Sartori 4), Ace team 5.

NOVARA-FLORENCE 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-18, 27-25)

Novara resumes its march after the defeat of Cuneo. Bernardi’s team, still without Tolok but with Squarcini returning as a starter, started badly, surprised by the opponent’s serve and Malual’s performance, but at a distance they took the measure of the Bisonte, limited by the home wall. The ending, however, is thrilling: down 18-15, the Tuscans reopen the discussion with a 0-5 score by Malual, Nervini and Baijens, and waste two set points to extend the match to the fifth set. Igor thanks her and finishes on the second attempt, led by the crescendo of the MVP (and former MVP) Ishikawa.

Novara: Ishikawa 24 points, Muri team 7 Ace team 8 (Mims 3).

Florence: Malual 20 points, Muri team 7, Ace team 5 (Butihgan 3).

VALLEFOGLIA-BERGAMO 3-1 (25-19, 17-25, 25-17, 25-23)

Third consecutive home success for Vallefoglia, who snatched the 3 points from Bergamo and moved ahead of Pinerolo in the standings. The local ones were better at the start, with a fluid attack (good for Bike) and an impactful block, but the Orobic ones responded with the same weapons in the second half. The home reception, however, remains good, Parisi also tries the dribble change (Carraro for Evans), but the final point to point rewards the Megabox of MVP Giovannini. Vallefoglia was good at reducing errors during the match, unlike their opponents.

Vallefoglia: Bici 17 points, Muri team 12, Ace team 9 (Perovic and Weitzel 3).

Bergamo: Cesè Montalvo 17 points, Muri team 8, Ace team 2.
