Star defender of the SM league and Vaasa Sport Atro Leppänen heading to Sweden for next season. According to information obtained by Iltalehti, Leppänen has signed a contract with SHL team Örebro for at least next season.

However, according to information received by IL, it is possible that Leppänen will leave Vaasa behind already during the current season. Leppänen may move to Switzerland for the rest of the season, as Sport desperately needs money.

Leppänen’s current contract with Sport ends this season.

Sport’s weak financial situation has been reported several times this season.

Leppänen’s, 26, SM league season is going at a record pace. He is just seven points away from tying the single-season scoring record for defensemen.

After 42 regular season matches, Leppänen’s balance this season is 14+33=47. Pekka Rautakallion (Aces 1978–79) and Brian Rafalski (HIFK 1998–99), the defenders’ season record is 53 points.

On Saturday, Leppänen feasted with record-breaking 3+3 against Koovola’s KooKoo.

Örebro is ninth in the SHL standings.

TPS is losing its star

Turku Palloseura’s power pack Max Lindroth instead, he will head to Kloten of the Swiss league for the next season, says an IL source.

Kloten envisions Lindroth as a replacement Sami to Nikuwho in turn will switch to Lausanne’s player next season.

This season, Lindroth has scored 17+24=41 in 42 SM league matches.
