Weapons and several explosives were found during a raid on an apartment in Meppel. A 24-year-old man from the same location was arrested and released today, police said.
The suspect came into the picture after reporting a threat and information about possible prohibited possession of weapons. The police then raided the building on Pieter de Hoochstraat on the night from Sunday to Monday. The apartment contained firearms, (presumably) drugs, counterfeit money and heavy fireworks.
The police received help from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) to safely dispose of the explosives. The other prohibited items have also been seized.
The suspect was told today that he can await his trial in freedom. However, he must adhere to a contact ban and is under the supervision of the probation service.
