Kike Salas has made fourteen LaLiga appearances so far this season. However, he has now been arrested because he apparently deliberately collected cards last season.
Spanish U21 international Kike Salas was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of betting fraud. According to information from the Spanish media, the 22-year-old Sevilla FC player was brought before a judge in Morón de la Frontera, but was allowed to be released under certain conditions.
Salas is accused of deliberately receiving yellow cards that friends had previously placed bets on. The accumulation of warnings was particularly noticeable in the final stages of last season, when the central defender received seven yellow cards in ten games. At this point, Sevilla no longer played a sporting role in the league, as the club was neither fighting to stay in the league nor for an international place.
Salas only extended his contract with the Andalusians until 2029 in December. Sevilla FC has not yet commented on the allegations.
