Patrik Laine hit again in the game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Dallas Stars. The match ended 2–1 with Dallas winning.

Laine’s goal came in the second period of the match, when Montreal was able to play with a 5-3 advantage. Nick Suzuki won the offensive zone kickoff, after which Canadiens players Suzuki and Lane Hutson held the puck for a while on the right wing. At the same time, Laine was free to load his cannon with the left B point.

In the end, Suzuki offered the puck to the left wing, and “Tesoma’s cannon” sang as usual. It was Laine’s ninth goal of the season.

Dallas’ 1-1 goal was scored by Jamie Benn from Mavrik Bourque’s pass. However, the match remained even, and stretched all the way to overtime.

There was no solution even in extra time, so it was time for a penalty shootout. Laine got to try the goal first, but failed to deflect the puck behind Stars goalie Jake Oettinger. Oettinger also denied attempts from Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki.

Dallas’ Jason Robertson was the only one to succeed in the penalty shootout, but this time it was enough to win. Oettinger recorded a total of 31 saves and had a save percentage of 96.8. The Canadiens’ Sam Montembeault had 35 saves, and his save percentage was 97.1.

– It felt good to be back. They have a good team and they played well. We did everything we could to win, but we didn’t manage to score in the penalty shootout or before, Laine said after the match.
