The newly released lead single, like the rest of the tracks on “Automatic”, was written by the two co-founders of the American alternative folk band Written by Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites. “This album marks 20 years of songwriting between Jeremiah and I,” says lead singer Wesley Schultz. “The album explores some of the absurdities of the modern world, such as the increasingly blurry line between what is real and what is not, and the variety of ways we numb ourselves as we try to combat both boredom and sensory overload.”
The Lumineers’ fifth studio album: more personal than ever
Their fifth studio album (and the first in three years) can be described as particularly personal. Songs like “Better Day” and “Asshole” in particular seem to underline a new era for the band. Band co-founder and songwriter Jeremiah Fraites says, “People who think they have us figured out are going to be surprised.”
