THEhe recent illness of King Charles III has put Buckingham Palace in crisis. The sovereign has recovered but is still being treated for the cancer diagnosed at the beginning of last year, so the monarchy is still considered at risk. But who can take his place if his condition worsens, causing a long absence? The current seven State Councilors – the only Royals to have the privilege of being able to act in the king’s place – remain available. Including, unfortunately, also Harry and Uncle Andrea.
Harry and Andrew wait in the shadow of King Charles III
Their inclusion is described as scandalous. For years the principles Harry and Andrew, both fallen from grace, I am no longer working Royal and they cannot replace the king on any official occasion. But in the case of illness or more or less prolonged absence of Charles, the current law does not exclude a call to the two most unwanted Royals at court.
What does a Royal State Councilor do?
In addition to being present at public events and important meetings, State Councilors can sign documents, make decisions on behalf of the kingwelcoming ambassadors to the court. However, they are not allowed to decide issues relating to Commonwealth or the dissolution of Parliament, or assign noble titles or welcome a new Prime Minister.
Who are the current Advisors of King Charles III
By law, in the absence of the king, at least two Councilors of State must be called. The first is his wife, Queen Camilla, followed by heir William and the three Royals positioned immediately after in the line of succession to the throne, provided they have already reached the age of 21. In this case it is Harry, Andrea and Beatrice (not even one working Royal). At the suggestion of Queen Elizabeth, Princess Anne and Prince Edward were also added in 2022, but the exclusion of the two inconvenient Royals Harry and Andrew was further postponed.

The protests of the British were immediately felt.
Not happy with the fact that However, Harry would not be called upon to act in his father’s stead as he was no longer resident in England and that Andrea, no longer holding military positions, is no longer considered suitable, there are many Britons who continue to send requests to Buckingham Palace for the immediate elimination of the two inconvenient names. In their place they would prefer Princess Eugenie. Kate Middleton and Sophie Wessex, prominent figures at courtcannot be taken into consideration as they were not born into the Royal Family.
Camilla is also at risk of being overthrown
While aware that a public exclusion of Harry and Andrew will undoubtedly cause problems at court, the English government is now considering definitive changes to the law in Westminster. And they have an even more complicated problem to solve: some are also calling for Camilla’s exclusioncurrently first on the list. Although much loved by the British, the queen is considered too controversial a character to even be able to “reign” in the king’s place. She has not yet been fully forgiven for the role she played in the end of Charles and Diana’s union.
