A sugar company’s plan to build a 235-meter-high windmill caused a stir in Oostkamp at the beginning of December. During the public inquiry, 850 objections were submitted.
Local residents fear noise pollution and do not think such a windmill is suitable close to a nature reserve. According to the municipality, the company must investigate other sustainable energy options and look for alternative locations. The province ultimately decides.
