In West Flanders, 8 out of 10 available employees are working. And that’s where the labor shortage comes in: there are only 2 candidates per vacancy. In the Roeselare region this is almost one to one.

“We have calculated that we need to get 77,000 extra people working from Voka by 2030, of which we may be able to activate 10 to 12,000 from our own resources,” says Voka West Flanders.

“Try to get a TEW or commercial engineering course in Kortrijk to give students the opportunity to continue studying under the church tower. In addition, we also want to introduce dual learning in courses such as industrial engineering, so that students, in addition to the course at school, also participate in our companies.”

With Hilde Crevits and Melissa Depraetere, there are two West Flemish vice-ministers. Voka requires extra space to do business and less administrative hassle.
