Grocery shopping continues to become more expensive. Inflation is still high and supermarkets are raising the prices of many products. And products that are on the shelves for a lower price are often smaller than before. We compared the receipts from a few years ago to today and we were shocked!

In flat euros, the prices of soup and toilet paper rose the most: 1.04 and 1 euro respectively. Relatively speaking, the prices of brown buns (45.9 percent), soup (30.1 percent), M&M’s (28.9 percent) and world dish (21.1 percent) rose the fastest.

At first glance you wouldn’t think that M&M’s have become more expensive. In 2022 you paid 3.19 euros for a bag, now you pay 2.99 for it. But that’s not the whole story, because where you used to get 275 grams, there is now only 200 grams in it. This translates into a price increase from 2.32 to 2.99.
The cucumber is the only product that has not become more expensive. Since 2022, the price has remained the same at 95 cents. Compared to 2021, you pay almost double for a cucumber.
