Gun in the car: US sports star arrested

James Harden is one of the biggest basketball stars of the past decade and a half. But now he is threatened with trouble – because of a discovery.
NBA professional James Harden has been arrested in Houston. Authorities found a handgun in his vehicle – in plain sight and not in the designated holster. The 36-year-old Cleveland Cavaliers point guard has since been released on bail.
He is reportedly due in court on June 22. Harden himself has not yet commented on the incident.
His current team already issued a statement: “The Cleveland Cavaliers are aware of the arrest of James Harden this morning and are in the process of obtaining further information. We are in contact with James and his representatives and will continue to monitor developments as new information becomes available. We will have no further comment at this time.”
Harden has been playing in the NBA since 2009. With the Cavaliers he lost the Eastern Conference final series in May against the New York Knicks 0-4. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he won the gold medal with the US national team.
