Brandi Carlile or Rihanna?
The musician attended the film event in Los Angeles over the weekend. He also presented the award for the best film music. When he and Brandi Carlile, with whom he wrote the song “Never Too Late” for his documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late”, the singer didn’t miss the opportunity to make some humorous comments regarding headlines about himself.
“This is a special night for me,” Elton John began. “I don’t know if you know, but there are stories going around about my failing eyesight. I want to assure you: It’s not as bad as everyone says, and I’m delighted to be standing here today with my co-presenter Rihanna.” The British musician received laughs from the audience and Carlile.

She then took up the mention of the visual in her part of the speech: “Great film music should feel as if it is inextricably linked to the image.” Then Elton John and Brandi Carlile announced Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross as winners in the category. The two members of Nine Inch Nails had composed the music for “Challengers – Rivals”. They probably have a famous fan: Elton John clenched both fists at the announcement and cheered for the duo. With four nominations, it was the only award that “Challengers” won.
Brief medical history
Elton John made his eye problems public just a few months ago. Since an infection last July, the musician has no longer been able to see in his right eye. He also admitted to “Good Morning America” in November that his left eye isn’t particularly good anymore.
