Squad planning for the second half of the season at Borussia Dortmund is underway. There could also be a prominent departure.

The change of winger Donyell Malen is getting closer. As the Dutch football magazine “Voetbal International” reports, the 25-year-old is said to have agreed on a move and a multi-year contract with Aston Villa. The BVB player is considered a sales candidate and was repeatedly reprimanded by coach Nuri Şahin for his attitude.

But there is still no agreement between Dortmund and the Premier League club. An initial offer from Villa is said to have been between 16 and 18 million euros. The Bundesliga club is said to be demanding around 25 million euros.

On Monday morning, Malen was initially still on the training ground in Dortmund. At BVB this season, Malen has repeatedly rotated between the starting eleven and the bench, rarely playing the full 90 minutes. The winger scored five goals in 20 competitive games. In total, he scored 39 goals in 131 games for BVB. In the summer of 2021 he came from PSV Eindhoven for 30 million euros and was able to impress in the following two seasons after a rather disappointing first year.
