Maarten van Rossem is angry, miffed and indignant about the fact that Edwin Evers parodies him on the radio. “Shall I call a lawyer?” he says. “I’m serious: throw me out.”

Edwin Evers has a section in his weekly radio show on 538 in which celebrities discuss the week. These are not real celebrities, but their voices are used, including that of Maarten van Rossem. And the jury member of De Slimste Mens is really not happy with that. In fact, the 81-year-old TV personality appears to be furious about it.

Call a lawyer

It’s really annoying, says Maarten. “Can I honestly say what I think about that? What kind of pure nonsense is that? That people are taken by the nose. I’m not there, I never did anything about Edwin Evers’ program. I also did not say that I would like it if I gave an opinion in Edwin Evers’ program.”

He continues in his own podcast: “Now that you bring it up, I think: should I call a lawyer to see if it is actually okay for Edwin Evers to imitate me there? Yes, I think that is completely illegitimate. Yes, right? Anyway, this is it again, what do we see here again? Childishness, infantilism. ‘We’re going to imitate someone!’”

‘Stop it!’

Maarten is dead serious. “Edwin Evers, will you stop that? Do you just want to throw me out? I don’t need it at all. I don’t like it either. I never liked all those imitation programs. It’s never any good. 0.0. I have seen myself imitated by everyone and everything and nothing is ever right.”

“No, Evers, I’m serious: please throw me out. It’s not fun at all,” he fumes. “Cheap!”
