Elina Gustafsson tells her social media followers about the twist of her surfing trip. Antti Nikkanen

Former boxer Elina Gustafsson32, said recently Instagram– on his account that he will spend the New Year surfing in Sri Lanka. Now, however, a nasty setback has occurred on the way.

Gustafsson says Instagram– in his stories that he was surfing bigger waves farther from the beach for the first time. Then he noticed an uncomfortable thing bothering him. Instagram stories are visible 24 hours after publication.

– I felt almost immediately from the beginning that now I got garbage in my eye or something. It bothered me throughout the session, and now my eyes are dying, he describes in his update.

– There must have been a small wound from the sand or something that got there, he thinks.

Gustafsson went to two different pharmacies to buy eye drops. However, the pain got so bad that he ended up going to the hospital.

– The doctor looked, and it’s a grain of sand there! Nothing but digging and bedding, he writes.

Gustafsson describes the operation as feeling “nasty”, but nevertheless gives an atmosphere of a successful outcome by smiling for the camera. He leaves the hospital and jumps into his driver’s seat. Soon, however, the rejoicing will end.

– Because I’m Elina Gustafsson, there are more grains of sand in my eyes, and they started to hurt. Either a new one flew there or more came from some cavity. I asked my driver if he has time to hang out with me because now I should go back, Gustafsson says and shows his squinting eyes in the video.

– And it only gets worse, luckily I turned around, the ex-boxer is updating in the hospital waiting room, and his other eye is bleeding.

Later, Gustafsson says that this time the doctor rinsed his eyes with plenty of water. According to the ex-boxer, he probably has a small wound in his eye. He says that he received eye drops and simple treatment instructions from the doctor.

– The doctor said to sleep. Sleep was perhaps the worst punishment for this, he says with a smiley face.

The next morning, Gustafsson updates his social media followers that his eye is already doing better.

– No problems, feels almost normal – except for the swelling, Gustafsson says.

– I still skip the morning surf. Then I’ll go surfing for the afternoon, he concludes.
