It has probably not escaped your attention: these promise to be cold days. The frost will continue in the coming days, so it is nice to know where spreading is taking place in and around the city (and where not).

The gritting teams ensure that the main streets in Zoetermeer are safe for traffic, even when it is slippery. This way, Zoetermeer residents don’t have to slip and slide to get from A to B.

Sprinkling routes in Zoetermeer

The municipality of Zoetermeer displays the spreading routes on a digital map. Via this link you can zoom in and see exactly which streets in Zoetermeer are being sprinkled (and which streets are not). This way you can see which main roads and cycle paths are being salted. When snow falls, the municipality removes excess snow from the streets of Zoetermeer with snow plows.

What you can do yourself

If you want to prevent slippery conditions in your own home, it is best to sweep away the snow while it is still soft. Or you can sprinkle yourself with both table and road salt, which you can buy at the hardware store or supermarket, for example. Sand also makes the paths and roads rough.

Not sprinkled properly?

If you believe that insufficient salt has been spread in your neighborhood or on the street, you can report this to the municipality. Perhaps that road will be included in the new gritting routes next year. If the municipality goes out with gritters, they will let you know via Facebook.
