The British clothing supplier J. Barbour & Sons Ltd suffered a decline in sales in the 2023/24 financial year, but was able to significantly improve its results. This emerges from the current annual report, which was published in the British commercial register shortly before Christmas.

In the most recent financial year, which ended on April 30, 2024, sales amounted to 321.8 million British pounds (387.8 million euros). This corresponded to a decrease of 6.2 percent compared to the previous year.

The traditional company justified the losses with the more difficult conditions in the wholesale business, which would have led to declining sales in this sales channel. However, growth was achieved in its own retail and e-commerce.

Thanks to a higher gross margin and targeted cost reductions in the supply chain, the clothing supplier was able to increase its operating profit by 15.2 percent to 39.6 million British pounds. Net profit increased by 21.8 percent to 34.3 million British pounds (41.3 million British pounds).
