Even at the last minute, one of the pieces was turned over this afternoon because it was not hanging properly.
Iconic places
The painting is full of recognizable images. Iconic places such as the Media Park, the Vitus Church and the Town Hall have been immortalized. Well-known Hilversum residents, such as architect Willem Dudok and Jan and Jacoba van Beieren, have also been given a place in the artwork.
“It is a timeline of the history of Hilversum. From prehistory to the present, with an open end to the future. It starts with the sheep on the heath, the great fire and the first map, to the modern media world until now,” shows Van Wijk. The painting is therefore a colorful tribute to the rich history of Hilversum.
