Edin Terzić resigned as coach of Borussia Dortmund in the summer. Now a foreign club is probably interested in the coach.
The Iranian top club Persepolis Tehran is looking for a sporting change and apparently has a former Bundesliga coach in mind: Edin Terzić, once coach at Borussia Dortmund, is said to be at the top of club president Resa Derwisch’s wish list, according to Iranian media. The first discussions with the German-Croat are said to have already taken place.
Persepolis had recently fired its Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido. The team’s poor performance led to this step, and Derwisch has been looking for a well-known successor ever since. Until a decision is made, former Bielefeld player Karim Bagheri will take over looking after the team.
The club is one of the most famous in Iran and has a large following. Former stars such as Ali Daei, Mehdi Mahdavikia and Ali Karimi, who played in the Bundesliga, also wore the Persepolis jersey. Despite its popularity, the club is currently experiencing sporting problems.
However, German coaches’ experiences in Iranian football have been rather mixed in the past. Names like Pierre Littbarski, Hans-Jürgen Gede, Rainer Zobel and Winfried Schäfer had no major success.
