What is the schedule? When do women jump? What happens on rest days? An overview of the 73rd Four Hills Tournament for ski jumpers.
After Christmas is before the Four Hills Tournament. The traditional major ski jumping event is a fixture in the annual winter sports calendar. The New Year’s jumping on January 1st and the Epiphany jumping on January 6th are set. There is some leeway with the dates in Oberstdorf and Innsbruck.
December 28th, 4:30 p.m.: Qualification in Oberstdorf
December 29th, 4:30 p.m.: Competition in Oberstdorf
December 31st, 1:30 p.m.: Qualification in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
January 1st, 2 p.m.: Competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen
January 3rd, 1:30 p.m.: Qualification in Innsbruck
January 4th, 1:30 p.m.: Competition in Innsbruck
January 5th, 4:30 p.m.: Qualification in Bischofshofen
January 6th, 4:30 p.m.: Competition in Bischofshofen
The ZDF team around presenter Lena Kesting and expert Severin Freund will broadcast the qualification and competition in Oberstdorf and Bischofshofen. Qualifications and jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck can be seen on ARD. Lea Wagner moderates, Sven Hannawald is an expert and co-commentator.
For the second year in a row, female ski jumpers will also be competing on the ski jumps. Oberstdorf and Garmisch are already there, and the two towns in Austria want to follow suit. On December 31st, following the men’s qualification, the jumping will take place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (4:20 p.m.). The competition from Oberstdorf follows on New Year’s Day, which follows on from the men’s New Year’s competition (4:15 p.m.).
Rest days on tour are usually travel days. This time Pius Paschke and Co. have December 30th and January 2nd off. On the 30th the tour entourage travels from Oberstdorf to Garmisch. Three days later the shortest tour route between Garmisch and Innsbruck can be completed. On this day, the teams also plan media activities as a mid-term review.
