Julian Brandt has been lacing up his football boots for Borussia Dortmund since 2019, and the 48-time German international has even been vice-captain of the Black and Yellows since this season. However, BVB is still waiting in vain for Brandt to reliably utilize his skills over a long period of time. There could now be a way out in the English Premier League.

The English first division clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are said to be keeping an eye on Julian Brandt from BVB. This is what Turkish transfer journalist Ekrem Konur claims to have found out.

People in London in particular are said to be impressed by the midfielder’s versatility. The 28-year-old can actually play any position in midfield, and Brandt also feels at home on the offensive wing. According to Konur, an advance should take place in the “upcoming transfer window”. This means that BVB would probably have to worry about Brandt in the winter, whose contract expires in the summer of 2026.

BVB sports director speaks plainly in the Brandt case

However, the fact that BVB is interested in letting their all-rounder go must be questioned. Sports director Lars Ricken recently emphasized to “Sport Bild” that Brandt had not been given a key role for nothing: “We have sent clear signals: Julian is now vice-captain and has been given a prestigious shirt number with ’10’. He is “A very, very important player and a figurehead for us both on and off the pitch,” said the BVB sports director.

However, if Brandt, who was recently sidelined with muscular problems, informed the club that he did not want to extend his contract beyond 2026, the tide could turn very quickly.

Especially since Newcastle in particular has enormous financial resources that far exceed those of BVB.
