Perugia continues its march at the top of the Super League: after the initial scare, the Block Devils beat Padova 3-1. Behind is Trento, which passes to Taranto with the same result; Civitanova’s show of strength against Milan, now last and overtaken in the standings by Grottazzolina, who scored their second consecutive victory against Modena.

CIVITANOVA-MILANO 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-23) A Lube without the affected Nikolov and Dirlic, with Chinenyeze alone sitting on the bench, beat Allianz in three sets, confirming their unbeaten home record also in the second round. Two sets in control, with Loeppky (mvp) leading the way together with Boninfante on the block, then in the third Porro and above all Reggers tried to revive a disappointing Milan which however died out under the walls of Podrascanin.

Civitanova: Loeppky 14 points. Team blocks 12. Team ace 5. Boninfante 4 blocks.

TARANTO-TRENTO 1-3 (30-32, 25-19, 20-25, 15-25) – A nationally trained Lanza is not enough to stop Trento’s run, which responds with top scorer Michieletto, with the serve and the block in a more balanced challenge than what could have been imagined in the first two sets. Then when Sbertoli engages his guns, Itas accelerates in attack and leaves no escape for a Gioiella who is still combative with Gironi and Alonso.

GROTTAZZOLINA-MODENA 3-1 (27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 28-26) Grottazzolina took a liking to it and scored its second consecutive victory. Yuasa Battery, accustomed to marathons, so the match against the Emilian team ended on the fourth match ball of the fourth set after the Marche team were ahead 2-0. Stankovic on the block and Davyskiba in attack lead the Valsa Group to a comeback which however is shattered by the attacks of a wild Petkovic who closes the game.

Modena: Davyskiba 21 points. Team blocks 10. Team aces 10. Stankovic 6 blocks. Buchegger 3 aces.

PERUGIA-PADUA 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-21) Sonepar led by top scorer Porro scares Sir by winning the first set in a sprint but then the undefeated Umbrians raise the level of service and attack (61% positivity) sending a Padova team into difficulty which withstands the impact in the initial part of the lost sets but succumbing to the power of their opponents in the final phase. Among the Venetians, Plak stood out (2 aces and 2 blocks) while in Lorenzetti’s team Semeniuk was in top form and scored 18 points.
