After eleven match days, SV Sandhausen greeted us from the top of the table. Two months later, the club no longer has a sports director or coach.

The sporting crisis at SV Sandhausen has consequences: the third division team has parted ways with coach Sreto Ristić after their fourth defeat in a row. The club announced this on Sunday. President Jürgen Machmeier said in a statement that the current development “can no longer be expected” of fans, partners and sponsors.

Despite the ongoing negative series, Machmeier emphasized that the club continues to believe in the quality of the squad. “With this impulse, we are giving the players the chance to make a significant course correction in the second half of the season under a new head coach,” said the club president. The aim is to ignite a new euphoria that affects the entire environment. The table position at the end of the season is not the focus.

SV Sandhausen currently occupies a place in the middle of the table in the 3rd league. Nevertheless, the latest results make it clear that the team is far from meeting its expectations. On Saturday, the 2-0 defeat against Viktoria Cologne was the fourth defeat in a row. The team only got seven points in the last ten games.

The club had already released sports director Matthias Imhof at the beginning of last week. According to Machmeier, the search for a new head coach should be completed by the turn of the year. With the change in the coaching position, the club is hoping for a turnaround in the second half of the season.

It remains to be seen whether the measures will be enough to get the sand houses back on the road to success.
