Griet Vanryckegem of N-VA, a former alderman in the city, recently became a Flemish Member of Parliament. On Wednesday she will be present at the plenary session of the Flemish Parliament. This always starts at two o’clock, but can extend into the evening. Vanryckegem can therefore never get on the municipal council again, says N-VA.
At the municipal council meeting, municipal councilor Arne Beyens (N-VA) asked the chairman of the municipal council to take this situation into account in the future and to have the municipal council take place on another day. But that appears to have been refused.
