Linda de Mol has become a major problem for RTL Boulevard after the bizarre censorship action by the editor-in-chief. “The subject is now contaminated, how are they going to do that?”
It is one of the biggest TV blunders of 2024: the editor-in-chief of RTL Boulevard who decides to cut completely justified criticism of Linda de Mol from the program, for reasons that are very mysterious. This Jorien van der Plas, Albert Verlinde’s niece, dismissed it with an excuse: “It was not editorially prepared.”
Everything is wrong
It is still not clear exactly why Jorien did that and according to Catherine Keyl, she really needs to clarify this. Until that happens, RTL Boulevard faces a huge problem, according to communications expert Lars Duursma. Their credibility has been damaged and that will of course take revenge when Linda is mentioned again.
Lars is really curious about how events surrounding Linda will be reported from now on. “I also think you will see that it has now become very difficult for them to say anything about Linda de Mol in the future, because whatever they do, it is always wrong, right?” he says in the podcast The Communicados.
Propaganda
Albert’s niece has gotten everyone in trouble in the show class, Lars thinks. “If they now talk positively about Linda de Mol, the accusation is of course very quickly: ‘Yes, you see, propaganda. It is nothing but flattering and positive about Linda de Mol.’”
“If it is negative about Linda de Mol, you will again see people joking: ‘Oh, gosh, they didn’t cut it out this time.’ The whole topic of Linda de Mol is now contaminated.”
Matter of time
Even more uncomfortable: if Linda receives criticism again in Boulevard, the audience can assume that the criticism has been prepared editorially, because otherwise Albert’s niece would start cutting furiously. And so they can no longer claim that it was simply the personal opinion of an expert.
Oh, oh, oh, they made it difficult for themselves there. Co-host Victor Vlam: “And it is a matter of time before Linda de Mol is discussed again in that program, because she is part of the media establishment and will be in the news again at some point and then she will also should be discussed again in the program.”

Media expert Victor thinks that RTL Boulevard will be closely monitored if something is wrong with Linda again. “I do think that what they say about it will be weighed very much on a golden scale and if it is even a little bit too positive, then you will stir up all these things again.”
“And then people will say again: ‘You see, they are just doing propaganda for Linda de Mol again.’ It’s really not over yet in that regard. It is permanent damage.”
Incompetence
TV authority Tina Nijkamp has published a list of the five biggest TV blunders of the year on her analysis channel, and mentions Rob Goossens’ ChatGPT mistress, but not the Linda cut that resulted from it. Curious; her regular appearances in the show section may have something to do with that.
In any case, that Linda cut is much more harmful to RTL Boulevard than Rob’s digital mistress, according to Victor. And especially that they ‘remain silent’ when there is fierce criticism of Jorien’s bizarre censorship action. “I honestly think it is a poignant sign of incompetence,” concludes the media critic.
