Album announcements are always a thing with Robert Smith. It often takes forever for new songs to see the light of day. We had to wait 16 years for the Cure album “Songs of a Lost World”. This time, however, the 65-year-old insists very, very often that the next two albums are already finished. And appear soon.
Now Smith has revealed details of the record, which is intended as a “companion” to Songs Of A Lost World, as well as a third album that takes a different approach.
In an interview with the British “Absolute Radio” he talked about “Songs of a Lost World” and what comes after. “There is another album that is almost finished. Sort of a counterpart to that,” he said, adding that there is material for a third album that takes a different direction. “Then there is a third one that is completely different. It’s really more random stuff, like late-night studio recordings. But some of it is really good, it’s just very, very different.”
Not quite so dark
He continued: “‘Songs Of A Lost World’ is a really emotional work and the counterpart to it isn’t quite as dark, but it explores other themes a little more,” he continued.
“The third work is actually very strange. I haven’t finished the lyrics for this yet because I’ve been concentrating much more on performing these pieces. I don’t want it to end – because it was so good. The reaction to the new music has been so, so great. It was really nice to feel people giving us all the love.”

“Songs of a Live World” is distributed through the Cure website. So far in six versions: CD, LP, cassette, as well as in bundles with the studio album “Songs of a Lost World”. There is also a note that the delivery may not arrive until Christmas. The release comes on December 13th.
What at first glance seems like good recording business for The Cure has an honorable background. The band donates all proceeds from sales to War Child.
