Munich Origins

We are from Munich. Founded in Schwabing in 1920. Until the 1980s with our own knitting factory in Giesing. To this day, our headquarters and our design team are based in Perlach: We are firmly rooted in Munich.

For our Fall Winter 25 collection, we focused on our origins and heritage and used them as inspiration for looks and styles. As an international premium knitwear brand, the collection’s clear focus is on New Luxury – we build a bridge between heritage and modernity. The looks were captured in Munich’s old town Lehel along the Isar to reflect Munich’s characteristic flair – a combination of modernity, history and nature.

Capsule 1 – July 2025: Pre-Fall

Our Pre-Fall drop marks the start of an interplay of tradition and modernity that runs through the entire Fall Winter 25 collection. Sporty elegance meets preppy elements and offers timeless ready-to-wear pieces that can be worn seamlessly between seasons. The collection is complemented by monogram details of the M MAERZ Muenchen logo in versatile variations.

New Take on Preppy

100 percent extra-fine merino wool, light and finely knitted, combines preppy detailing with modern cord styles. Heritage & club styles for transeasonal looks, ready-to-wear & first autumn styles, knits made of merino wool x cotton, monogramming.

Capsule 2 – August 2025: Fall

Our very first MAERZ Muenchen store opened in Munich’s Maxvorstadt, more precisely on Türkenstraße. At the beginning the range was limited to loafers and socks – a modest but promising start. To this day, Türkenstrasse is a vibrant meeting place for creative people and individualists: art, restaurants, cafés, students and museums characterize this unique place. Our August capsule combines exactly that: heritage & modernity. Translated into looks with a subtly luxurious character.

Between heritage and modernity

Classic styles in autumnal tones meet modern shapes with a tailoring character. Timelessness meets zeitgeist.

Capsule 3 – September 2025: Fall Winter

The roots of MAERZ Muenchen go back deep to Giesing: in 1955 we opened our first knitting factory on Warngauer Straße. Even though the factory closed in 1988 and Giesing has changed significantly since then – from a working-class district to an up-and-coming, creative district – the spirit of craftsmanship and innovation that characterized us back then remains a central part of our brand.

Made in Germany

DESIGNED IN MUNICH. MADE IN RHEINBERG. For our Fall Winter 25 collection, we want to return to our roots and create knitted styles that are not only designed but also produced in Germany. We found a partner in Rheinberg, a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia, with whom we are producing a limited women’s edition in Germany.

THE RESULT: A troyer made from 100 percent extra-fine merino wool. Seamless as a pearl catch knitted in off-white and navy.

Origins

Our Origins collection combines heritage with originality. The focus is on using the most natural version of a quality without any re-dyeing and in its most untreated form: this includes the use of yak wool and undyed styles in the Raw Edition. Archive reflects the Heritage approach: styles from our 104-year history are reknitted for Fall Winter 25.

yak

Our Origins styles made from yak wool represent ultimate luxury and sustainable elegance. This rare natural fiber, which is considered noble hair, surpasses even cashmere in softness, warmth and durability and gives each piece a unique exclusivity.

Yak wool is obtained in very small quantities and makes up less than 0.5 percent of the animal hair produced worldwide – a real treasure of nature. Thanks to its natural color range from black-brown to red to creamy white, it hardly requires any chemical processing, which makes it particularly environmentally friendly.

Furthermore, the extraction of yak wool has deep-rooted cultural and ecological significance. The yak is an indispensable farm animal for many small farmers, providing not only wool but also leather, milk and meat. The wool is obtained in a traditional, gentle way, preserving the connection to its origins and the communities that nurture it. Our yak styles embody not only craftsmanship, but also sustainability and authenticity.

RAW

Origins Raw stands for pure naturalness and sustainable luxury – knitwear in its most original form. We consciously avoid dyeing in order to preserve the natural color of the wool and protect the environment.

With an exclusive mix of merino wool and Suri baby alpaca, we set new standards in softness and elegance. Merino impresses with its fineness and breathability, while Suri Alpaca, one of the most luxurious natural fibers, impresses with its silky shine and special suppleness. It is also hypoallergenic, durable and temperature-regulating – perfect for sophisticated knitwear.

Eliminating dyeing processes significantly reduces water and energy consumption and avoids chemical pollution. In this way, we set an example for sustainable style, without compromising on quality or design. Each piece from Raw is unique – proof of how fascinating wool can be in its natural beauty.
