Ski jumper Pius Paschke is currently unstoppable. The 34-year-old is flying from win to win. He also took part in the World Cup in Wisla for the third time this season. Paschke is also ahead in the overall standings.
It was a “really cool day” for Pius Paschke. The man from WSV Kiefersfelden also flew away from everyone at the World Cup in Wisla on Sunday (December 8th, 2024). Paschke was on the podium in both competitions. From Saturday to Sunday I improved from third place to first and thus to his third win of the season.
“I’m very, very satisfied, I really had three cool jumps. I was able to implement what I set out to do from yesterday to today in all three jumps“, said the 34-year-old happily, who drew a positive conclusion: “I am very satisfied and am looking forward to our first home World Cup in Titisee-Neustadt.“
Praise from national coach Horngacher
There was also once again a lot of praise from national coach Stephan Horngacher. “Pius Paschke was convincing and defended his yellow jersey very confidently.” Paschke leads the overall standings with a lead of more than eight points.
The Four Hills Tournament is coming up in less than three weeks. It’s clear that Paschke is one of the favorites for the Golden Eagle in his current condition. But for years, German ski jumping fans have been hoping in vain to win the Four Hills Tournament. Sven Hannawald was the last person to achieve this.

And things have always looked good for the DSV Adler in recent years. Last year, hopes rested on Andreas Wellinger, who ultimately had to admit defeat to the Japanese Ryuyo Kobayashi.
For DSV ski jumping sports director Horst Hüttel, it is a question of mentality, as he reveals in the Sportschau interview. “You can be sure that the athletes want nothing more than to perform at the Four Hills Tournament. And that’s why I think it’s more of a mindset thing.“
DSV sports director Hüttel: “We want to keep our form longer”
Coaches and those responsible have their hands tied to a certain extent. “I don’t think we can do as much differently as we have done in terms of preparation in terms of materials over the last few years“, explains Hüttel. “All we can do is see that this year we can do a little better to extend the form over the entire season, as we did last year.“
The DSV team’s current model jumper, Pius Paschke, will help with this. And maybe it will be enough for the 34-year-old to make the big leap.
