Toyota team manager and former top driver Jari-Matti Latvala crashed his car onto its roof last weekend at the Tuuri SM rally at Ritala’s special test.
The right front tire of Latvala’s car started to climb up the bank in the bend turning to the right, after which the Celica was on its roof in no time.

Latvala and his cart Enni Mälkönen survived the crash with a start, but the duo’s race ended when all the car’s roof panels had to be replaced.
– There was a small careless mistake. I cut in a little and when the banks are so incredibly hard, the car went straight from the bank on two wheels to the other side of the bank, Latvala explained the situation to Iltalehte.
The driver was familiar with the road, as it was the hometown of Latvala’s mother. In addition, the man’s grandmother is on the same road.
