Wilfred Genee denies that Pieter Cobelens has been canceled by his program Today Inside. The question, however, is whether the reverse is the case: was the talk show perhaps canceled by Píeter?
Pieter Cobelens, the former boss of the Military Intelligence and Security Service, was in the studio of Today Inside at all times until mid-October. After his collision with Johan Derksen – the football analyst accused him of ‘raving’ about the Israel issue when he was not a guest – Pieter is actually never a guest in the studio again.
Pieter cancelled?
It seems that Pieter’s function, namely analyzing geopolitical issues, has been taken over by Arend Jan Boekestijn. And many viewers think that is a shame, because Pieter was a welcome guest in the program.
Wilfred Genee in the Today Inside from last night: “Is it canceled or not?”
Colleague René van der Gijp: “No, of course not.”
‘Not at all!’
Johan Derksen plays along. “Is it cancelled?”
Wilfred: “Yes, I don’t know. I read that today, but it hasn’t been canceled with us, has it?”
René: “No, dude!”
Johan: “Canceled with us?! No of course not!”
‘Then we’ll call him’
Is Pieter on Johan’s blacklist? Wilfred: “He’s just welcome?”
Johan: “Yes, of course. If we need Pieter, we’ll call him, right?”
René then repeats an old joke: “Of course that takes a lot of make-up every time!”
Finally, Johan was irritated: “If someone hasn’t been here for three weeks, then they’ve been cancelled!”
Reversed?
The big question here is of course whether it is not the other way around: did Pieter cancel the men of VI? He indicated that he felt insulted by Johan. “Today Inside is canceled by Pieter Cobelens,” says a VI viewer firmly X.
There is clearly one party that has canceled the other, Lars also thinks. “Why else has Cobelens not been invited since November and why has Boekesteijn taken over his subjects?”
