Christian Horner was acquitted after the alleged sex messages and was allowed to keep his job. For one employee, however, there was less good news.
The next twist in the case surrounding the allegations against Red Bull team boss Christian Horner: An employee of the Brit is said to have been placed on leave at the beginning of the week. Several media outlets report this unanimously. Rumors had previously circulated about unspecified misconduct by the 50-year-old. According to various reports and a leak that has not yet been verified, Horner is said to have sent lewd messages to an employee who reported to him (read more about this here). However, the team’s long-time successful manager was acquitted after an internal investigation by an external law firm and was allowed to keep his position.
But there were now consequences for the employee. According to “Bild”, she still receives her full salary, but does not currently have to appear at work. “F1 Insider”, however, reported that the employee was even fired on Monday.
Team boss Horner is said to have known nothing about the suspension. Only a handful of those responsible at the company were involved in the decision, it is said. When asked, Red Bull initially held back: “We cannot comment on this as it is an internal matter.”
Why exactly the woman was given leave remains unclear for the time being. Your access to confidential internal data could play a role. According to the report, she also had to hand over her laptop and her work cell phone.
