Raymond Mens delivers an ugly sneer to Gordon after his orchestra demand on Today Inside. “Yes, I understand that he wanted that orchestra. He doesn’t care about his voice!”
Gordon canceled his appearance on Today Inside at the last minute last week. In the afternoon he came up with all kinds of excuses: then he had to go back to Belgium, then he didn’t want to sing again and suddenly he wanted to come alone if a whole orchestra was allowed to come along. But there is no room for that at all in VI’s studio.
‘So sad’
It is clearly a panic reaction, says Rutger Castricum in the column In The Walkways. “I feel a bit sorry for him. I don’t know him well. I had drinks with him one evening and it was really fun. Luckily I ended up in my own bed, but I feel bad for him. He’s a really nice guy with a sense of humor.”
Presenter Wilfred Genee: “He shouldn’t take it so seriously! That’s what I think all the time.”
Raymond Mens: “He should have joined us here!”
Orchestra there
Rutger would also have thought that was a nice stunt by Gordon. “Yes, if he had been here, nothing would have happened.”
Wilfred: “He wanted the orchestra there, but that didn’t fit in at all. That is the problem. There is no room for an orchestra.”
Raymond: “I understand that he wanted that.”
Wilfred: “Oh, stop it.”
Raymond then delivers his sneer: “That’s the whole idea of his album. He doesn’t care about his voice!”
Unplug
Rutger thinks that the VI cancellation also has to do with the failure of his theater tour. “I think he thought: then I can have fun with those guys from VI, but I already know that the plug will be pulled, not enough tickets have been sold, I will never make it again. It’s also a bit sad.
Raymond is a bit harder on Gordon. “It’s very sad, but he is clearly in trouble with himself, of course. Only if you have been continuously handing out all these years, even now by making fun of Dries Roelvink while he is not harming anyone, then you will get him back one day.”
Collect
Raymond does not really feel feelings of pity. He is especially bothered by Gordon’s long toes. “We can all think it’s very sad, but if you continuously strike out, you also have to take the hit.”
