According to new research, pop star Taylor Swift is said to be related to a great figure in literary history – the American poet Emily Dickinson.
Cousins around three corners
As Today reports, Swift and Dickinson are both descended from 17th-century English immigrants who settled in Windsor, Connecticut. The genealogy company “Ancestry”, which conducts family tree and family research, took on the ancestor search of the 34-year-old musician. And so they found out that Swift and the writer, who lived from 1830 to 1886, are sixth cousins.
“Taylor Swift’s ancestors remained in Connecticut for six generations until Emily Dickinson’s side of the family eventually settled in northwestern Pennsylvania, where they married into the Swift family line,” Ancestry’s findings report continued.
Album announced on Emily Dickinson’s birthday
As Swifties know, the singer often draws inspiration from 19th-century poets like Dickinson. And her ninth studio album EVERMORE also seems to be influenced by her famous ancestor – she announced it on December 10th (2020), on Emily Dickinson’s birthday. However, it is not known how Swift feels about the cousin news.
