Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev made it clear during a speech how he sees the Ukraine of the future. Not much remains: only an area of about 100 square kilometers around the capital Kiev. “Ukraine is absolutely Russia,” he declared. “Our geostrategic space has been indivisible since the time of the old Russian state.”
