The party kicked off on Friday with Rihanna’s first show since her performance at the 2023 Superbowl. On Saturday, the group will head to a sanctuary for exotic animals in Jamnagar. 66-year-old Mukesh Ambani, from the Jamnagar region in the western state of Gujarat, is the boss of Reliance Industries, India’s largest company. With a fortune of 116 billion dollars (107 billion euros), he is tenth in Forbes magazine’s ranking of the richest people in the world.
His youngest son Anant will marry Radhika Merchant, the daughter of an Indian pharmaceutical magnate, later this year. For the Ambanis, such a joyful event may come at a cost. In 2018, Mukesh organized the most expensive wedding in the country’s history for his daughter Isha. The party, which included a performance by Beyoncé, reportedly cost 100 million dollars (more than 92 million euros).
This time also on the guest list: Disney CEO Bob Iger. Reliance Industries, which is active in the oil, financial services and telecom sectors, signed an agreement with Disney earlier this week to merge their media activities in India. The merger will create a new $8.5 billion entertainment giant in the world’s most populous country.
