An area of precipitation will move over the Alps in the coming days. According to specialized media, it concerns a so-called Südstau, where moist air is sucked in from the Mediterranean Sea and collides with the southern Alps. But precipitation would also fall on the northern side. Snow is forecast for parts of France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy in the coming days.
The most snow is predicted on the border of Switzerland and Italy, in ski areas such as Zermatt, Breuil-Cervinia, Saas-Fee, Courmayeur and Monterosa. According to ‘Snowplaza’ and Skiinformatie.nl’, 292 centimeters of fresh snow could fall in Saas-Fee (Switzerland) on Sunday alone.
