Clause applies: FC Bayern must sign Eric Dier

The loan deal becomes a permanent transfer: According to “The Athletic”, FC Bayern must sign the English defender Eric Dier for the coming season and take over the 30-year-old’s contract from Spurs from Tottenham.

Eric Dier is actually only under contract with FC Bayern until the end of the 2023/24 season. The Englishman could then go back to Tottenham, where he still has a working paper until the summer of 2025. But apparently nothing comes of it.

As the portal “The Athletic” reports, it is already clear that FC Bayern must sign the 30-year-old permanently. The requirements for this, which were set out in the loan agreement, have therefore already been met. This means: Dier’s Spurs contract, which runs until 2025, will now become a Bayern contract until 2025.

FC Bayern does not have to pay any additional transfer fees

According to the report, the Munich team does not have to pay an additional transfer fee. The loan fee of four million euros is therefore equivalent to the transfer fee. The only cost factor that the record champions still have to bear is the Englishman’s contract, which now runs a year longer than before. Theoretically, the Munich team has the opportunity to transfer Dier and thus even record a plus deal.

According to “The Athletic”, this probably won’t happen because the FCB bosses are said to be quite satisfied with the Englishman’s performances so far. “Sport Bild”, however, reported just a few days ago that this is exactly not the case. It was said there that the Munich management team doubted the defensive player’s abilities.

So far, the 30-year-old Englishman has appeared in six competitive games for the German record champions, starting four times. The 49-time national player was brought in in the winter to respond to the personnel shortage in defense.
