The sixth staged concert of the centenary company disney featured music, songs and clips from film screenings Pixar, in our splendid Colon Theater. Once again, the spacious stage was occupied by the musicians who were members of the Academic Orchestra of the theater, directed on this occasion by the maestro Ezequiel Silberstein, specialist in these issues. The stage direction was in charge of Peter MacFarlanea perfectionist when it comes to recreating the imagery of the traditional entertainment factory that is Disney.
The tour began with the character Edna Moda, from “The Incredibles,” crossing the aisle to welcome the audience, introduce the conductor, and introduce us to what we would see. After the first musical arrangement, Sullivan and Mike Wazowski, from “Monsters, Inc,” appeared on stage and the audience erupted in applause with “If I Didn’t Have You,” an authentic hymn to friendship composed by Randy Newman, Oscar winner for this song. .
The cavalcade continued with “Ratatouille”, a classic of animated cinema and “Le festín”, written by Michael Giacchino. “Cars” followed, the touching “When Someone Loved Me”, from “Toy Story 2”, also by Newman, a Grammy winner, in which the doll Jessie remembers the moments with her owner. The first part concluded with “Brave,” one of the highlights of the feast with four pipers who took us to Scottish lands where Princess Merida, the film’s protagonist, challenges the traditions of her ancestors.
After a brief interval that the children and their parents took advantage of to take selfies and tour the theater spaces in amazement, Edna reappeared alongside Bob Parr, superhero from “The Incredibles,” who engaged in a well-choreographed fight with two acrobat scoundrels. After the celebrated “Inside Out,” where emotions coexist in the head of the girl Riley, and the romantic “Lava,” by James Ford Murphy, the astonishment continued with attractive colored balloons and “Married Life,” from the moving “ Up.” Regarding the end, another Oscar winner, “Recuérdame”, by Robert López and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, “Un poco loco” and “El latido de mi corazón”, the three of “Coco”, and “Nodie como tú”, from “Red” were the finishing touch to a night to remember.
MacFarlane’s seductive staging, with performers from the local musical, the very good musical and vocal direction of Tomas Mayer Wolf, and the admirable costumes of Magda Banachcontributed to creating a proposal that gave us, for two hours, a passage to illusion.
