Wild rumors that Toni Kroos could possibly return to FC Bayern can finally be relegated to the realm of fable.
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is expecting the playmaker’s contract to be extended with the Royals. “I think he will continue,” said Ancelotti before the game against Sevilla FC on Sunday evening.
Kroos had recently been repeatedly linked in the Spanish media with a comeback to his former club in Munich. In January, a report in the Catalan online newspaper “El Nacional” said that coach Thomas Tuchel was internally promoting the 34-year-old’s commitment.
But it is now clear: Tuchel will no longer be head coach of FC Bayern next season – and Kroos will most likely not return to Säbener Straße and instead continue his impressive career at Real.
For how much longer? The 2014 world champion obviously decides for himself. “He is a very responsible person, he has a very clear idea of what his future will look like. He wants to quit the day he sees that his level has dropped.” said Ancelotti.
DFB comeback instead of return to FC Bayern for Toni Kroos
The Italian star coach was cautious about Kroos’ return to the German national team for the home European Championships (June 14th to July 14th). “I won’t give Kroos any advice on what to do. He’s not my son. I can advise my son,” Ancelotti said.
Kroos initially announced his DFB comeback on social networks last week. “Guys, short and painless: I will be playing for Germany again from March. Why? Because I was asked by the national coach, I’m keen and I’m sure that a lot more is possible with the team at the European Championships than most people currently believe! “, wrote the 34-year-old on Instagram.
National coach Julian Nagelsmann enthused in a “Spiegel” interview that Kroos would “fit perfectly into the team we have in mind.”
