Woman (78) from Knokke critical after collision in Eeklo | Eeklo

The accident happened around 6 p.m. near the intersection of the N9 and Oostveldstraat. A 78-year-old lady from Knokke wanted to cross the street, but was hit by a car. The victim was seriously injured in the collision. The emergency services set up a red tent and a mosquito team was also sent to the scene. The lady was taken to Ghent University Hospital in a critical condition.

“The circumstances of the accident are still under further investigation. The bad weather may have affected the vision of the 52-year-old driver from Eeklo. There was certainly no alcohol involved in any of the parties,” said Marino Longeville of the Meetjesland police zone.
