The new building is located just outside the Torhout ring road in the industrial area, making it ideally located. From there, the officers can be on site anywhere quite quickly. And that is necessary because the local police work in a vast area with Torhout as a school town, and two highway car parks that attract human smugglers.
From the new office, Kouter zone wants to tackle both local phenomena and international crime more efficiently. “We were previously spread over seven buildings, which of course did not improve communication at all. Now all services are neatly together, meetings go smoother, communication goes much smoother. The files are circulated much more smoothly, the consultations are much more accurate. Only advantages,” says Chief of Police Kris Depovere.
