Two women aged 55 and 21 from Limburg have died after a serious car accident in South Africa.
A 27-year-old man from South Holland was also killed. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms this. A fourth person is still seriously injured. The identity of the fourth victim is not yet known.
Five people died
According to foreign media, a collision between a minibus taxi and a truck killed five people, three of them from the Netherlands. The other two would come from South Africa.
The accident happened on the N4 toll road near the Schoemanskloof, towards Mbombela, in the northeast of the country.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. According to local media, the truck and the minibus taxi collided with each other, after which the truck also collided head-on with an oncoming delivery van.
Consular assistance
According to foreign news media, the emergency services were soon on the scene, but help was no longer of any use. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently providing consular assistance to the victims and relatives of the accident.
