The Italian referees of every category, therefore also in Serie A, will take to the field with mourning on their arms. It is a decision by the Hague, following the tragic death of Fabio Buoninsigni, race director of the Naples section and employed in the amateur championships, who died at just 22 years old after being involved in a road accident in Villa Literno, on the road to municipality of Quarto where he lived. A university student enrolled in the faculty of law, he was returning home from the Piedimonte stadium in Nocera Inferiore, where he had been sent for a First Category match; immediately after the impact, he was transported to Caserta hospital in serious condition, but there was nothing that could be done.
Furthermore, Gabriele Gravina, president of the FIGC, ordered a minute’s silence before the start of the matches of all the competitions of the National Amateur League and the Youth and School Sector organized by the Campania Regional Committee, scheduled for the weekend. Messages of condolence were spread by all the football institutions.
