The bad suspicion after his substitution in the 11th minute in the 3-3 draw in Freiburg has been confirmed: Eintracht Frankfurt’s winter signing Sasa Kalajdzic has suffered the third cruciate ligament tear of his young career (see his injury history). As the Frankfurt team announced, the 26-year-old striker’s knee injury affected the “cruciate and lateral ligaments in the right knee”. The Austrian international will be absent indefinitely.
Kalajdzic moved to Frankfurt in the January transfer window on loan until the summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he is under contract until 2027. A further appearance for Eintracht after the first six with one goal and two assists is out of the question if he is not permanently signed.
For the Viennese native, it is the third cruciate ligament tear after July 2019 and September 2022. The second time it happened shortly after his 18 million euro transfer from VfB Stuttgart to Wolves, for whom he has only played 14 competitive games since then (three goals/one assist).
